Movicol Oral Solution Sachets 10x25ml

Movicol is indicated for the treatment of constipation in adults and adolescents (from 12 years of age). It is also effective in resolving fecal impaction, defined as refractory constipation with fecal loading from the rectum and/or colon.

Active substances: Macrogol 3350, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Bicarbonate and Potassium Chloride.

Macrogol 3350 acts by osmotic action in the intestine, inducing a laxative effect. Macrogol 3350 increases stool bulk, which triggers colonic motility via neuromuscular pathways. Electrolytes combined with macrogol 3350 are replaced along the intestinal barrier (mucosa) by serum electrolytes and excreted in fecal water with no gain or loss of sodium, potassium or water.

Dosage and method of administration:

It must be administered directly from the sachet. This product does not need to be diluted with water. Adults, adolescents and elderly: 1-3 sachets daily in divided doses, according to individual response. For long-term use, the dose can be adjusted down to 1 or 2 sachets per day. Sufficient fluid intake (generally 2 to 2.5 liters daily) is recommended to maintain good health.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Intestinal perforation or obstruction, due to structural or functional disturbances of the intestinal wall, ileus, severe inflammatory conditions of the intestinal tract, such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and toxic megacolon.
