Laxido Orange Powder for Oral Solution is indicated for the treatment of chronic constipation. Laxido Laranja is also effective in resolving fecal impaction, defined as refractory constipation with fecal loading from the rectum and/or colon.

Active substances: Macrogol 3350, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Hydrogencarbonate and Potassium Chloride.

Macrogol 3350 induces a laxative effect through its osmotic action in the intestine. This product also contains electrolytes to ensure there is no overall gain or loss of water, potassium or sodium.

Dosage and method of administration:

A course of treatment for chronic constipation with Laxido Laranja normally does not last longer than 2 weeks, although it can be repeated if necessary. As with all laxatives, prolonged use is not usually recommended. Prolonged use may be necessary in the care of patients with severe, chronic or resistant constipation, secondary to multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's Disease, or induced by regular constipation medication, in particular opioids and antimuscarinics. Adults, adolescents and elderly: 1-3 sachets per day, in divided doses, according to individual response. For long-term use, the dose can be adjusted to a smaller amount, 1 or 2 sachets per day. Faecal impaction: A course of treatment for faecal impaction with Laxido Orange normally does not last longer than 3 days. Adults, teenagers and elderly: 8 sachets per day, all of which must be consumed within a period of 6 hours. Each sachet must be dissolved in 125 ml of water. For use in fecal impaction, 8 sachets can be dissolved in 1 liter of water. Children under 12 years: Not recommended.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. Contraindicated in intestinal obstruction or perforation caused by functional or structural disturbance of the intestinal wall, volvulus and in patients with severe inflammatory diseases of the intestinal tract (eg ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease and toxic megacolon).
