Orlistat Teva 60mg 84 capsules

Orlistat is a medication used to treat obesity. It acts on the digestive system preventing about a third of the fat from ingested food from being digested. It binds to digestive system enzymes (lipases) and prevents them from breaking down part of the fat ingested in the meal. Undigested fat cannot be absorbed and is eliminated by the body.

Active substance: Each capsule contains 60 mg of orlistat.

Dosage and method of administration:

The recommended dose is one 60 mg capsule three times a day. No more than three 60 mg capsules should be taken in 24 hours. Treatment should not exceed 6 months. The capsule should be taken with water immediately before, during or up to 1 hour after each main meal. If a meal is omitted or if it does not contain fat, the dose should be omitted.

Contraindications:

Do not take if you are allergic to orlistat or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, if you have chronic malabsorption syndrome (insufficient absorption of nutrients from the gastrointestinal tract), if you have cholestasis (liver disease) and/or are breast-feeding.
