Description
D Med Azevedos 25000 IU / 1 mL Oral Solution is indicated for the initial treatment of vitamin D deficiency.
Active substance: 1ml of solution (1 ampoule) contains 0.625mg of cholecalciferol, equivalent to 25,000 IU of vitamin D.
Vitamin D plays an important role in the body, namely at the bone, muscle and immune levels. The cutaneous synthesis of Vitamin D is affected by a number of factors, such as the season, time of day, exposed body surface, latitude, air pollution, the use of sunscreen, clothing, aging and aging. skin pigmentation.
Adults require 5 µg per day, equivalent to 200 IU. Healthy adults can cover their deficiency by producing vitamin D on their own, through sufficient sun exposure. Food supply of vitamin D plays a subordinate role, although it can be important in critical conditions (climate, lifestyle). Fish and fish liver oil are particularly rich in vitamin D; small amounts are found in meat, egg yolk, milk and dairy products and avocado.
Posology and method of administration:
The dosage must be determined individually by the doctor. For the initial treatment of vitamin D deficiency and under medical supervision, a single dose is recommended up to a cumulative dose of 100,000 IU for one week. 1 ampoule of D Med Azevedos 100,000 IU can be administered in a single dose or 4 ampoules of D Med Azevedos 25,000 IU can be administered weekly.
Any additional necessary treatment with D Med Azevedos should be decided by your doctor. Serum levels of 25-hydroxicalciferol and calcium should be monitored after initiation of treatment. The need for additional monitoring can be individualized, according to the dose administered and the patient's needs. The initial treatment of vitamin D deficiency should be followed by a maintenance therapeutic dose of cholecalciferol. Maintenance therapy requires low-dose cholecalciferol formulations.
According to the legislation in force, medicines not subject to medical prescription in Portugal can only be delivered in the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde. This limitation does not apply to shipments to other Member States of the European Union.
