Marbogen Ear Drops Complex is a medication for the treatment of acute otitis externa in dogs, based on microbiological tests at Staphylococcus pseudintermedius and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and in the presence, simultaneously, of infections by Malassezia pachydermatis sensitive to ketoconazole and where, based on the sensitivity tests and because of the different resistance patterns, the administration of marbofloxacin and gentamicin is considered necessary to combat the bacteria mentioned above.

Active substances: Marbofloxacin 2.041 mg; Gentamicin sulfate 2.044 mg; Ketoconazole 4.081 mg; Prednisolone 1.850 mg.

Marbofloxacin is a broad spectrum synthetic bactericidal agent, classified as second generation fluoroquinolone (formerly 3rd). It acts against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, as well as against mycoplasmas.

The combination of marbofloxacin and gentamicin is active in vitro against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, isolated from domestic animals, namely the following organisms isolated from infected canine ears: Staphylococcus spp. (Including S. pseudintermedius) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Ketoconazole is a broad spectrum antifungal agent derived from imidazole. Its effect specifically inhibits the ergosterol synthesis of sensitive fungal species.

Prednisolone is a synthetic corticosteroid. Inhibits the synthesis of eicosanoid molecules during inflammatory processes caused by inhibition of the phospholipase A2 enzyme. It has local and systemic anti-inflammatory properties. Corticosteroid therapy is necessary to reduce irritation and the risk of self-inflicted trauma, which exists due to the acute inflammatory nature of the injury.

Target species: Dogs.

Posology and route of administration:

Auricular administration. For external use only. The recommended dose in dogs is 5 drops (approx. 0.1 ml) in the ear canal, twice a day, for 14 days. Before administration of the veterinary medicinal product, the surface to be treated must be clean and the hair removed. Massage the base of the ear and try to prevent the dog from shaking his head for at least 5 minutes.

Because it is a veterinary medicinal product subject to medical prescription, we request to send it to the email: [email protected].
