Altresyn it is indicated for estrus synchronization in sexually mature gilts (pigs).

Active substance: Altrenogest

Altrenogest is a synthetic progestogen belonging to the 19-nortestosterone family. This progestogen is orally active. Altrenogest works by decreasing the plasma concentrations of endogenous gonadotropins (LH and FSH). Reduced concentrations of gonadotropins induce regression of large follicles (> 5 mm) and do not allow the growth of follicles greater than 3 mm, resulting in the absence of estrus and ovulation during treatment. Discontinuation of treatment is followed by a regular increase in the plasma concentration of LH allowing follicular growth and maturation. Then, the animals return to estrus in a synchronized way.

Posology and route of administration:

For oral administration, through surface dispersion in the food.

20 mg altrenogest / animal, ie 5 ml per animal, should be administered once daily for 18 consecutive days.

The veterinary medicinal product should only be administered with the Altresyn dispenser.

To inject the dispenser:

• Place the bottle in a horizontal position, the dispenser nozzle pointing upwards.
• Slowly squeeze the trigger until a drop of pearls appears at the tip of the mouthpiece.

Then, the dispenser offers a dose of 5 ml for each complete activation of the trigger. For regular administration, hold the dosing bottle vertically, upside down. The dispenser must remain in the veterinary medicine bottle for the entire period of use and the locking system must be used for storage between treatments.
