Onsior 10mg is an anti-inflammatory veterinary medicine used to treat pain and inflammation associated with chronic osteoarthritis in dogs.

Active substance: Robenacoxib

Robenacoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) from the coxib class. It is a potent and selective cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) enzyme inhibitor. The enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX) is present in two forms. COX-1 is the constitutive form of the enzyme and has protective functions, ie gastrointestinal tract and kidneys. COX-2 is the “inducible” form of the enzyme and is responsible for the production of mediators including PGE2 that induce pain, inflammation or fever.

Dosage and route of administration:

For oral administration.

Do not administer with food as clinical trials have demonstrated better efficacy of robenacoxib when administered without food or at least 30 minutes before or after food.

The tablets are palatable and are voluntarily ingested by most dogs. The tablets should not be broken or divided.

The recommended dose of robenacoxib is 1 mg/kg body weight in a range of 1-2 mg/kg. Administer once a day, at the same time.

Clinical response normally occurs within a week. Treatment should be discontinued if there is no apparent clinical improvement after 10 days.

For long-term treatments, when a clinical response is observed, the dose of the veterinary medicinal product should be adjusted to the lowest effective dose as the degree of pain and inflammation associated with chronic arthritis may vary over time. Regular monitoring should be carried out by your veterinarian.
