carporal is indicated for dogs to reduce inflammation and pain caused by musculoskeletal disorders and degenerative joint disease. Following parenteral analgesia to control postoperative pain.

Active substance: Carprofen 160mg

Carprofen has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activities. Like most other NSAIDs, carprofen is an inhibitor of the cyclooxygenase enzyme of the arachidonic acid cascade. However, the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis by carprofen is slight in relation to its anti-inflammatory and analgesic potency. The precise mode of action of carprofen is not clear.

Dosage and administration route:

For oral administration.

Administer 2 to 4 mg of carprofen per kg of body weight per day.

- To reduce inflammation and pain caused by musculoskeletal disorders and degenerative joint disease: an initial dose of 4 mg of carprofen per kg of body weight per day, given in a single daily dose or in two equally divided doses may, depending on the clinical response , be reduced to 2 mg carprofen/kg body weight/day given as a single dose. The duration of treatment depends on the response observed in the patient. The dog must be regularly examined by a veterinarian for treatments lasting longer than 14 days.

- To prolong post-operative analgesic and anti-inflammatory coverage, carprofen tablets may be administered at a dose of 4 mg/kg body weight/day for a maximum period of 5 days after preoperative parenteral treatment with a injectable preparation of carprofen.
