Over-the-counter drug indicated for the short-term symptomatic relief of sore throat.
Mentocaine Spray 17.16mg/ml is indicated for the short-term symptomatic relief of sore throat in adults.
Active substances: flurbiprofen.
Flurbiprofen has potent analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory properties.
Dosage and method of administration:
Adults 18 years of age and over: One 8.75 mg dose (3 sprays) applied to the back of the throat every 3-6 hours as needed, up to a maximum of 5 doses in each 24 hour period . Do not inhale while spraying. It is recommended that this medicine be used for a maximum of three days. For oral administration and short-term treatment only. Before first use, activate the pump by pointing the cannula away from you and pressing at least 4 times until a fine, consistent mist is produced. The pump is ready to use. Between each administration, point the cannula away from you and spray at least once, ensuring that a fine, consistent mist is produced. Always ensure that a fine, consistent mist is produced prior to application of the medication.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. Patients who have previously developed hypersensitivity reactions (eg asthma, bronchospasm, rhinitis, angioedema or urticaria) in response to aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Recurrent or previous active peptic ulcer/bleeding (two or more distinct episodes with proven ulceration) and intestinal ulceration. History of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, severe colitis, bleeding or hematopoietic disorders related to previous NSAID therapy. Last trimester of pregnancy. Heart failure, kidney failure or severe liver failure.
