Non-prescription drug indicated for the short-term symptomatic relief of sore throat.
Description
Macifen 8.75mg is indicated for the short-term symptomatic relief of sore throat in adults and children over 12 years of age.
Active substances: flurbiprofen.
Flurbiprofen is a propionic acid-derived NSAID that works by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.
Dosage and method of administration:
Adults and children over 12 years: Slowly suck/dissolve one lozenge in the mouth every 3 to 6 hours as needed. Maximum of 5 tablets per 24 hour period. It is recommended that this product be used for a maximum of three days.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. Patients who have previously experienced hypersensitivity reactions (eg asthma, bronchospasm, rhinitis, angioedema or urticaria) in response to acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Recurrent or previous active peptic ulcer/bleeding (two or more distinct episodes with proven ulceration) and intestinal ulceration. History of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, severe colitis, bleeding or hematopoietic disorders related to previous NSAID therapy. Last trimester of pregnancy. Severe heart failure, severe kidney failure or severe liver failure.
