Niquitin Fresh Mint 4mg is indicated in the treatment of tobacco dependence by alleviating nicotine withdrawal symptoms including uncontrollable cravings for smoking during cessation attempts. Permanent cessation of tobacco use is the eventual objective. Preferably, Niquitin Menta Fresca should be used in conjunction with a behavioral support program.

Active substances: 4mg of nicotine.

Nicotine, the main alkaloid in tobacco products and a naturally occurring autonomous substance, is a nicotine receptor agonist in the central and peripheral nervous system. Nicotine has been shown to be addictive in tobacco consumption.

Dosage and method of administration:

20 or more cigarettes a day. Counseling and behavioral therapy support typically increases the success rate. The starting dose should be individualized based on the nicotine dependence of each user. Niquitin Fresh Mint Gum should be chewed as directed whenever you feel a sudden urge to smoke in order to maintain complete abstinence from smoking. Enough chewing gums should be used per day, usually 8 to 12, up to a maximum of 15. The duration of treatment depends on the individual smoker's needs. Generally, the use of medicated chewing gum is 2 to 3 months, then the use of the gum can be reduced gradually. When daily use is limited to 1 or 2 gummies, use should stop. Any leftover gummies should be saved as uncontrollable urges to smoke can suddenly arise. Niquitin Fresh Mint Chewing Gums should only be used by teenagers (12 to 17 years old) only when prescribed by a doctor. Experience of using Niquitin Fresh Menta Gums in this age group is limited. Niquitin Fresh Mint gummies are contraindicated in children under 12 years of age. Chewing gum should be used whenever you have an urge to smoke according to the “chew and rest” technique. Chew slowly until the flavor becomes intense (about 1 minute) then stop and place the gum against your cheek. When the flavor starts to fade, chew a few more times until the flavor becomes intense again. Then rest the gum next to the cheek again. After 30 minutes of use, the gum will be used up. You should not chew more than 15 gummies a day. The user should not eat or drink while the chewing gum is in the mouth. Beverages that lower the pH of the mouth, for example coffee, fruit juices or soft drinks can reduce the absorption of nicotine from the oral cavity. To achieve maximum nicotine absorption these drinks should be avoided for at least 15 minutes before using the gum.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. Children under 12 years old. No smokers or occasional smokers.

If in doubt or if symptoms persist, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
