Nicorette BucoMist is used for the treatment of tobacco dependence in adults, providing relief from nicotine withdrawal symptoms, including the urge to smoke, while trying to stop or reduce smoking before completely stopping smoking. The ultimate goal is the definitive cessation of smoking. Preferably, Nicorette BucoMist should be used concurrently with a behavioral support programme.

Active substances: 1mg/dose of nicotine.

Nicotine, the main alkaloid in tobacco products and a naturally occurring autonomous substance, is a nicotine receptor agonist in the central and peripheral nervous system. Nicotine has been shown to be addictive in tobacco consumption.

Dosage and method of administration:

Behavioral support programs and counseling typically increase the success rate. Adults and Elderly: Up to 4 sprays per hour can be used. No more than 2 sprays per dose and no more than 64 sprays (4 sprays per hour for approximately 16 hours) should be exceeded in a 24 hour period. Abrupt cessation of smoking: For smokers willing and ready to quit smoking immediately. Subjects should completely stop smoking during the course of treatment with Nicorette BucoMist and follow the recommended dosing schedule for complete treatment with mouth spray (Stage I) and during weaning (Stage II and Step III) described in the package insert. Gradual cessation through progressive reduction of smoking. For smokers who are not willing or ready to quit abruptly. The mouth spray solution is used between smoking periods in order to prolong the smoke-free intervals and with the intention of reducing smoking as much as possible. The patient should be aware that incorrect use of the spray solution may increase adverse effects. One cigarette is replaced by one dose (1-2 sprays) and an attempt to stop should be made as soon as the smoker is ready and no later than 12 weeks after starting treatment. If a reduction in cigarette consumption is not achieved after 6 weeks of treatment, a healthcare professional should be consulted. After you stop smoking, gradually reduce the number of sprays daily. When subjects have reduced to 2-4 sprays per day, the buccal spray should be discontinued. Regular use of the mouth spray after 6 months is not recommended. Some ex-smokers may need to be treated with the mouth spray solution for a longer period of time to avoid smoking again. Any remaining mouth spray solution should be saved for use in case of sudden urge. After priming, bring the mouth spray as close to the open mouth as possible. Firmly press the top of the spray and release a spray into the mouth, avoiding contact with the lips. Patients should not inhale during spraying to avoid passage into the respiratory tract. For best results, do not swallow for a few seconds after spraying. Patients should not eat or drink when administering the mouth spray.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. Children and adolescents under the age of 18 years. Non-smoking individuals.

If in doubt or if symptoms persist, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
