Description

Nicorette Menta Fresca 4mg is indicated for the treatment of tobacco dependence, providing relief from nicotine withdrawal symptoms, facilitating the cessation of smoking in smokers motivated to stop smoking.

Active substances: 4mg of nicotine.

Nicotine, the main alkaloid in tobacco products and a naturally occurring autonomous substance, is a nicotine receptor agonist in the central and peripheral nervous system. Nicotine has been shown to be addictive in tobacco consumption.

Dosage and method of administration:

Nicorette Medicated Chewing Gums are intended for oral use. Children and young adults. Nicorette Medicated Chewing Gums should not be given to people under 18 years of age without a doctor's recommendation. There is no experience in treating adolescents under the age of 18 with Nicorette medicated chewing gum. Adults and Elderly: The initial dosage should be individualized based on the nicotine dependence of each patient. Usually 8-12 medicated chewing gums per day in the proper dosage will be adequate. Highly dependent smokers (with a Fagerström test score greater than or equal to 6 or who smoke more than 20 cigarettes per day) or patients who have been unable to stop smoking with a 2 mg medicated chewing gum should initially be treated with the 4 mg dose. Other patients should start treatment with a dose of 2 mg. No more than 24 medicated chewing gums per day should be given. The duration of treatment is individualized, but is normally at least three months. The gradual weaning of medicated chewing gums should then begin. Treatment should be stopped when the dosage is reduced to 1-2 medicated chewing gums per day. Some reserve medicated chewing gums should be kept because the urge to smoke may suddenly occur. The use of medicated chewing gums beyond 12 months is usually not recommended. Some ex-smokers may need treatment with medicated chewing gum for longer periods to prevent a return to smoking. Counseling and support usually increases the success rate.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. Recent myocardial infarction (within the last 3 months). Instability or worsening of angina pectoris. Prinzmetal's angina. Severe cardiac arrhythmias. Acute cerebrovascular accident.

If in doubt or if symptoms persist, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
