Nicopass 1.5mg Menta Fresca is indicated for nicotine dependence, relief of symptoms of nicotine withdrawal and alleviation of the desire to smoke, as an adjunct to smoking cessation in adults. Counseling and support typically improve the success rate.

Active substances: 1.50 mg of nicotine.

Nicotine, the main alkaloid in tobacco products and a naturally occurring autonomous substance, is a nicotine receptor agonist in the central and peripheral nervous system. Nicotine has been shown to be addictive in tobacco consumption.

Dosage and method of administration:

Lozenges containing 1.5 mg of nicotine are recommended for smokers with low or moderate nicotine dependence, that is, smokers who smoke 20 or fewer cigarettes per day (achieving up to 6 points on the Fagerström test). Do not exceed 30 lozenges per day. This medicine can be used alone or in combination with nicotine transdermal patches. In the case of combination therapy, it is recommended that patients seek medical advice. Treatment of nicotine dependence normally proceeds in two phases. First phase: Slowly suck a lozenge when there is a need to smoke. The number of 1.5 mg lozenges is normally 8 to 12 per day, and should not exceed 30 lozenges per day. The duration of this phase is about 3 months, but may vary depending on the individual response. Second phase: When the need to smoke is completely eliminated, gradually reduce the daily number of lozenges. Treatment should be discontinued when the dose has been reduced to 1 or 2 lozenges per day. It is recommended that the tablets are not used for a total period of more than 6 months. The lozenge should be placed in the mouth, where it will gradually dissolve. It should be moved regularly from one side of the mouth to the other and slowly sucked on until it is completely dissolved. The structural matrix of the lozenges has been formulated to ensure that they dissolve in about 30 minutes, allowing a gradual release of nicotine and, consequently, a slow absorption of it through the buccal mucosa. For this reason, the lozenges cannot be chewed or swallowed. There must be abstention from eating or drinking while the lozenge is in the mouth. Acidic drinks (coffee or soft drinks) should be avoided 15 minutes before using Nicopass.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. No smokers or occasional smokers. Children under 12 years of age. Hypersensitivity to peanuts or soy, due to the presence of soy oil.

If in doubt or if symptoms persist, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
