Flexar 5mg/g Gel 100g

Flexar 5mg/g Gel is indicated for patients over 12 years of age in the topical treatment of mild to moderate pain and inflammation of musculoskeletal origin, namely post-traumatic ones such as sprains, dislocations or bruises or of rheumatic origin.

Active Substance: piroxicam.

Piroxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and antipyretic action, presumably acting by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. It also appears to have an irreversible inhibitory effect on platelet aggregation.

Dosage and method of administration:

Flexar is for external use only. Apply one gram of gel (corresponding to 5 mg of piroxicam) to the affected area three to four times a day. One gram of gel corresponds to approximately 3 cm of gel length when pressed out of the tube. After application, massage gently until no residual material remains on the skin. Not to be used with an occlusive dressing. If there is no improvement in symptoms after a week of treatment, a doctor should be consulted; never use more than 2 weeks without clinical recommendation.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients. There is a possibility of cross-hypersensitivity with acetylsalicylic acid and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), therefore Flexar should not be used in patients in whom acetylsalicylic acid and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have induced symptoms of rhinitis, asthma, angioedema or hives.

In accordance with current legislation, non-prescription medicines in Portugal can only be delivered to the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde. This limitation does not apply to shipments to other Member States of the European Union.
