Sweeten is indicated for the relief of inflammation and pain in acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders in dogs.

Active substance: Meloxicam 1.5 mg / ml

Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) belonging to the oxicam group, which acts by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, thus exerting anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-exudative and antipyretic effects. Reduces leukocyte infiltration into inflamed tissue. To a lesser extent, it also inhibits collagen-induced thrombocyte aggregation. In vitro and in vivo studies have shown that meloxicam inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) to a greater extent than cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1).

Posology and route of administration:

Shake well before using. Administer mixed with food.

The initial treatment is a single dose of 0.2 mg meloxicam / kg body weight on the first day.

Treatment should continue with oral administration once daily (at 24-hour intervals), at a maintenance dose of 0.1 mg meloxicam / kg body weight.

The suspension can be administered using either the dropper (for very small dogs) or the dosing syringe included in the box. The dropper provides 0.05 mg of meloxicam per drop (ie, a dose of 0.1 mg of meloxicam per kg of live weight, corresponds to 2 drops per kg of live weight). The syringe adapts to the vial and has a scale in kg of live weight that corresponds to the maintenance dose (ie 0.1 mg meloxicam / kg of live weight). Thus, twice the maintenance volume is required on the first day.

The clinical response is usually seen within 3 - 4 days. Treatment should be stopped after a maximum of 10 days if there is no clinical improvement.

For long-term treatments, once a clinical response is observed (after 4 days), the dose of the veterinary medicinal product should be adjusted to the lowest effective individual dose, reflecting that the degree of pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal disorders may vary over time. of time.
