Nasarox 0.5mg/ml Nasal Spray Solution is indicated for the symptomatic relief of nasal congestion caused by hay fever, constipation and sinusitis. Nasarox is indicated for adults and children 6 years of age and older.

Active Substances: 0.5 mg/ml of oxymetazoline hydrochloride.

Oxymetazoline hydrochloride is a sympathomimetic drug that exerts a local vasoconstriction action on the nasal mucosa, reducing nasal congestion.

Dosage and method of administration:

Adults: 1-2 sprays in each nostril every 12 hours. Children >10 years: 1-2 sprays in each nostril every 12 hours. Children 6-10 years: 1 spray in each nostril every 12 hours. Do not exceed a total of 8 applications for adults (4 for children) in a 24-hour period. Do not exceed the established dose. Nasarox should not be used for longer than 7 days unless prescribed by a doctor. There should be an interval of several days before re-administration of the drug. Shake well before using. Before first use, press the spray device several times until the first full spray is achieved. Keeping the bottle orifice upright, insert alternately into each nostril and squeeze firmly once or twice while inhaling.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. Nasarox should not be used: in patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or in patients who have taken MAOIs in the previous two weeks; in patients with angle-closure glaucoma; in patients after transsphenoidal hypophysectomy; where there is demonstrated hypersensitivity or idiosyncrasy to any of the excipients of the medicinal product; where there is inflammation of the skin and mucosa of the nasal vestibule and encrustation (rhinitis sicca) and in patients with acute coronary heart disease or cardiac asthma. Nasarox should not be used in children under 6 years of age.

In accordance with current legislation, non-prescription medicines in Portugal can only be delivered to the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde. This limitation does not apply to shipments to other Member States of the European Union.
