Abelia TrisEDTA is a water based solution for ears composed of tromethamine, EDTA and benzyl alcohol, slightly alkaline (pH 8) with antimicrobial action, potentiating antibiotics, alkalizing and non-irritating, for dogs and cats.

Indications for use, specifying the target species:

  • Treatment of otitis in which the main agent is a gram-negative bacterium (Pseudomonas, Proteus ...);
  • Treatment of otitis in which the main agent is a gram-positive bacterium (Streptococcus beta-hemolytic and Staphylococcus);
  • Enhancer of antibiotics, mainly aminoglycosides (gentamicin, neomycin, amikacin, tobramycin ...) and quinolones (marbofloxacin, enrofloxacin, ciprofloxacin ...).
  • Enhancer of other antibiotics that require alkaline pH to act;
  • Antimicrobial activity even without the association of antibiotics;
  • Long-term prevention of recurrent chronic otitis with a bacterial component;
  • Ears with perforated tympanic membrane (or with suspicion);
  • Abscesses or injuries with gram-negative and gram-positive infections, particularly if treated with quinolones or aminoglycosides.

For dogs and cats.

Directions for use:

Treatment: Administer Abelia TrisEDTA 15 to 30 minutes before applying the optical antibiotic to improve its action. Alternatively, it can be applied simultaneously. Fill the ear canal: apply between 1-5 ml depending on the breed. Gently, but firmly, massage the base of the ear for several seconds. Excess solution or debris in the outer area of the ear can be removed with gauze or a paper towel. Do not remove or wash the Abelia TrisEDTA solution. Apply every 12 or 24 hours for at least 4 weeks. The duration of treatment must be indicated by the clinician in each case. The ears should be reevaluated by your veterinarian every 7-10 days.

Maintenance / Prevention: apply 1-2 times a week.
