Femke 30mg it is an emergency contraceptive medication up to 120 hours after unprotected sex or in case of contraceptive failure.

Active substance: 30mg ulipristal acetate

Femke contains the substance ulipristal acetate which works by modifying the activity of the natural hormone progesterone, which is necessary for ovulation to occur. As a result, this medicine works by delaying ovulation. Emergency contraception is not effective in all cases. In every 100 women who take this medicine, approximately 2 become pregnant. This medicine is a contraceptive used to prevent the onset of pregnancy. If you are already pregnant, you will not terminate an existing pregnancy. Emergency contraception does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.

Posology and method of administration:

Take one tablet by mouth as soon as possible and no later than 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. Take the tablet without delay. You can take this tablet at any time during your menstrual cycle. You can take this tablet at any time of the day, either before, during or after a meal.

If you are using one of the medicines that may prevent Femke from working properly (see the “Other medicines and Femke” section in the package leaflet) or if you have used one of these medicines in the last 4 weeks, Femke may not work correctly for you.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Femke. Your doctor may prescribe another type of emergency contraceptive (non-hormonal), ie a copper intrauterine device (Cu-IUD).

If you vomit after taking Femke: If you vomit (are sick, vomit) within 3 hours of taking the tablet, take another tablet as soon as possible.

If you have sex again after taking Femke: If you have unprotected sex after taking the pill, this will not prevent you from becoming pregnant again. After taking the pill and until the next period comes, you should use condoms whenever you have sex.

According to the legislation in force, medicines not subject to medical prescription in Portugal can only be delivered in the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde.
