Imodium Rapid is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea. After ileostomy, it allows to reduce the number of dejections and the volume of the feces and to increase its consistency.

Active ingredient: Each orodispersible tablet contains: 2mg of loperamide hydrochloride.

Dosage and method of administration:

It must be placed in the language. The tablet dissolves and is then swallowed with saliva. It is not necessary to drink any liquid to take it. Adults and children over 6 years of age with acute diarrhoea, the starting dose is 2 tablets (4 mg) for adults and 1 tablet (2 mg) for children, followed by 1 tablet (2 mg) after each diarrheal stool. For chronic diarrhea the starting dose is 2 tablets (4 mg) per day for adults and 1 tablet (2 mg) per day for children, this dose should be adapted until 1-2 solid stools are obtained per day, whichever is greater. which is usually possible with a maintenance dose of 1 to 6 tablets (2-12 mg) per day. The maximum dose for acute and chronic diarrhea is 8 tablets per day (8 tablets), for adults, the maximum daily dose for children must be weight-related (3 tablets/20 kg).

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. It is not recommended for children under 6 years of age. It should not be given as a primary treatment in patients with acute dysentery, which is characterized by bloody stools and high fever. In patients with acute ulcerative colitis. In patients with bacterial enterocolitis caused by invasive microorganisms including Salmonella, Shigella and Campylobacter. In patients with pseudomembranous colitis associated with the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics.
