

Non-prescription drug indicated for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea.
Loride is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea, provided that causal treatment is not possible.
Active substances: loperamide hydrochloride.
Loperamide increases bowel tone, prevents propulsive peristalsis and reduces the frequency of bowel movements in case of diarrhea. Loperamide acts peripherally as an opiate receptor agonist.
Dosage and method of administration:
Adults and Children over 12 years: The usual dose is 2 tablets as a starting dose, followed by 1 tablet after each diarrheal stool, up to a maximum of 4 tablets in 24 hours. The tablets must be swallowed with plenty of liquid. Treatment should be stopped as soon as the stools normalize.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. Patients with acute ulcerative colitis and/or antibiotic-associated pseudomembranous colitis. Isolated treatment of acute dysentery (characterized by high fever and blood in the stool). Situations in which it is necessary to avoid inhibition of intestinal peristalsis such as constipation; acute or chronic intestinal obstruction and flatulence. Severe liver failure.
