Perphyl 667mg/ml Syrup is indicated for the treatment of habitual chronic constipation; treatment and prevention of portosystemic encephalopathy and hepatic pre-coma and coma. The possibility of prolonged treatment with Perphyl allows timely use in patients with cirrhosis of the liver, with a tendency to hyperammoniaemia; treatment of salmonella enteritis – sanitation of permanent carriers; situations in which soft stools are considered a clinical benefit (hemorrhoids, anal fissure, fistulas, anal abscesses, solitary ulcers and in the anorectal postoperative period.

Active substances: 667mg/ml lactulose.

Dosage and method of administration:

Porto-Systemic Encephalopathy, Pre-coma and Hepatic Coma: Initial Dose: 30 to 50 ml, 3 times a day. Maintenance Dose: to be established individually so as not to cause diarrhea. Constipation or medical conditions where soft stools are required: The dose of Perphyl for the treatment of constipation varies depending on the individual response. By way of example, the dosage schedule is indicated in the package leaflet. The regularization of defecation may take 1 to 2 days to start, since lactulose exerts its therapeutic effect only after reaching the colon. Perphyl can be taken mixed with food (eg yogurts) or liquids (juices, water). Treatment of salmonella enteritis – sanitation of permanent carriers: Adults 1st treatment cycle (10 to 12 days): 15 ml, 3 times a day. 2nd treatment cycle (10 to 12 days), after a 7-day treatment-free interval: 15 ml, 5 times a day. If necessary, a 3rd treatment cycle will be carried out after a 7-day treatment-free interval: 30 ml, 3 times a day. The dose should be adjusted gradually and individually, according to age, to produce 2 to 3 loose stools per day. Diarrhea should be avoided. Pediatric population: The dose for children aged 7 to 14 years should be half the recommended dose for adults. For children aged 1 to 6 years, 1/3 of the adult dose should be administered.
