Normalax 5mg is indicated for use in cases of constipation. For the preparation of diagnostic aids, in preoperative treatment and whenever evacuation facilitation is required.

Active substances: 5mg bisacodyl.

Bisacodyl stimulates, after hydrolysis in the large intestine, peristaltic movements in the colon and promotes the accumulation of water and electrolytes in the colonic lumen. In contact with the colonic mucosa, bisacodyl stimulates sensory nerve endings.

Dosage and method of administration:

Normalax should not be used in children under 6 years of age. Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the following dosages are recommended: In case of constipation- Adults and children over 10 years old: 1 - 2 gastro-resistant tablets (5 - 10mg), before going to bed. If the effect is not enough, take 1 tablet (5 mg) the next morning. Children from 6 to 10 years: 1 coated tablet (5 mg), before bedtime. Children under 10 with chronic or persistent constipation should only be treated under medical supervision. In the preparation of diagnostic or preoperative procedures. In the preparation of diagnostic procedures, in preoperative treatment and in pathologies that require defecation to be facilitated, Normalax should only be used under medical supervision. Unless otherwise instructed by your doctor, the recommended dose is: Adults and children over 10 years: 2 gastro-resistant tablets (10 mg) in the morning and 2 gastro-resistant tablets (10 mg) in the evening, the day before the examination. Children 6 to 10 years: 1 coated tablet (5 mg) in the evening. The use of Normalax for prolonged periods should be avoided. It is recommended that the gastro-resistant tablets be taken at night so that the bowel movement takes place the next morning. Gastro-resistant tablets should be swallowed whole with an adequate amount of liquid. In order not to prematurely dissolve the enteric coating, gastro-resistant tablets should not be taken with products that reduce the acidity of the upper gastrointestinal tract, such as milk, antacids or certain proton pump inhibitors.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. Normalax is also contraindicated in patients with ileus, intestinal obstruction, severe abdominal surgery conditions such as acute appendicitis, severe inflammatory bowel disease and severe abdominal pain associated with nausea and vomiting which may be indicative of more serious conditions. This medicine is contraindicated in cases of severe dehydration and rare hereditary conditions that may be incompatible with an excipient of the product.
