Laevolac Plum 10mg/15ml Syrup 30 sachets
Non-prescription drug indicated in the treatment of chronic constipation.
Laevolac Plum 10mg/15ml Syrup is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of chronic constipation (in all cases).
Active substances: Lactulose.
In the colon, lactulose is broken down into low molecular weight organic acids. These acids lead to a reduction in the pH in the colonic lumen and, due to an osmotic effect, to an increase in the volume of the colon contents. These effects stimulate colonic peristalsis, normalizing stool consistency. Constipation disappears, and the physiological rhythm of the colon is re-established.
Dosage and method of administration:
As each organism reacts differently to Laevolac Plum, it is necessary for each patient to determine the optimal dose over time. The average recommended dosage is 30 ml of syrup (each 15 ml sachet contains 10 g of lactulose; one tablespoon corresponds to 15 ml) in two doses, one before breakfast and one before lunch, diluted in a glass of water. Adults - Starting dose: 10-20 g lactulose syrup 15-30 ml/day (1 to 2 tablespoons or 1 to 2 sachets of 15 ml) in a single dose or divided into two doses. In maintenance, doses are usually halved ie 5-10 g 7.5-15 ml/day (1/2 to 1 tablespoon/day). Children - The initial dose should be: 5-10 years: 10 ml in two daily doses (one teaspoon corresponds to 5 ml). 1-5 years: 5 ml /day (1 teaspoon) Age under 1 year: 2.5 ml in two daily doses. To obtain a quick laxative effect, 1-3 tablespoons of Laevolac Plum should be diluted in 1/8 to 1/4 of a liter of water, coffee, tea, fruit juices or milk, taken in the morning, on an empty stomach. Bowel movements usually occur about 2 hours later, resulting in soft or watery stools (rapid gag reflex). The intestinal transit regulating effect of Laevolac Plum may persist for several days in some patients; in this case it is sufficient to take Laevolac every other day or every three days.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. Galactosemia, lactose intolerance, galactose-free diet, intestinal obstruction or suspected ileus.
