Tricalma 200mg is indicated for mild to moderate pain such as headache, toothache, muscle pain, bruises and post-traumatic pain. It is also indicated in menstrual pain (primary dysmenorrhea) and in the treatment of fever lasting less than 3 days.

Active Substances: 200mg ibuprofen.

Ibuprofen has significant anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties. These actions are fundamentally related to the ability of this substance to inhibit cyclooxygenase and consequently prostaglandins, important mediators of inflammation and fever. Ibuprofen also appears to have an inhibitory effect on platelet aggregation.

Dosage and method of administration:

Unless medically indicated, the recommended dosages are as follows: Adults and children over 12 years of age: Mild to moderate pain (musculoskeletal, post-surgical): 200 to 400 mg, every 4 or 6 hours, without exceeding the maximum recommended dose of 1200 mg/day. Dysmenorrhea: in the self-medication of dysmenorrhea, the initial dose is 200 mg every 4 to 6 hours, which can be increased to 400 mg every 4 to 6 hours. The daily dose of 1200 mg should not, however, be exceeded without medical advice. Febrile conditions: the initial dose is 200 mg every 4 to 6 hours, the dose may be increased to 400 mg every 4 to 6 hours if fever persists and on medical advice. Note: the dose of 1200 mg/day should not be exceeded, unless there is an express clinical need. Most favorable time for administration: Tricalma should preferably be taken after the main meals, or with the aid of a little milk, thus minimizing possible gastrointestinal disorders. The lowest effective dose for the shortest period of time needed to relieve symptoms should be used.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. Patients with a history of asthma, rhinitis, urticaria, angioneurotic edema or bronchospasm associated with the use of acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Patients with active or recurrent peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding or other active bleeding such as cerebrovascular or ulcerative colitis. History of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation related to previous NSAID therapy. Peptic ulcer/active bleeding or history of peptic ulcer/recurrent bleeding (two or more distinct episodes of ulceration or proven bleeding). Patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment. Patients with clotting disorders. During the last trimester of pregnancy. Severe heart failure (NY Heart Association class IV).
