Betadine Foam Cutânea is indicated for the disinfection and hygiene of the skin and mucous membranes, as an adjuvant in the treatment or prophylaxis of infection in interdigital mycoses (e.g. athlete's foot), as an adjuvant in the treatment of infection in seborrheic dermatitis, in the prophylaxis of seborrheic dermatitis. In leg ulcers: adjuvant therapy as a disinfectant. In surgery: Wash hands before and after surgical interventions, as a bactericidal product. As liquid soap for use in the office. For cleaning and local asepsis of the patient before surgical interventions. In obstetrics-gynecology: Gynecological asepsis Disinfection of the vulva, perineum and inner thighs before childbirth.

Active substance: povidone-iodine 4g.

Elemental iodine (I2), present in povidone-iodine, has long been known as a highly effective microbicidal agent that rapidly kills bacteria, viruses, fungi and some protozoa in vitro.

Dosage and method of administration:

Betadine Skin Foam should be used as indicated in the package leaflet for its different applications. Betadine is contraindicated in children under 1 month of age. For topical use only.

Contraindications:

This medicine should not be used in the following situations: hypersensitivity to iodine or povidone, or to any of the excipients. Hyperthyroidism. Other acute thyroid diseases. Disinfection of medical-surgical material. In newborns up to 1 month. In the first trimester of pregnancy. Prolonged during the 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy. Breastfeeding is contraindicated in the case of prolonged treatment. Do not use this medicine in combination with mercury-derived antiseptics.

According to current legislation, medicines not subject to a medical prescription, in Portugal, can only be delivered in the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde.
