Lidonostrum 5% Ointment is indicated for the temporary relief of pain caused by minor burns and abrasions of the skin, eg sunburn, Herpes Zoster and cold sores, nipple irritation, insect bites. Anesthesia of the mucous membranes, for example in hemorrhoids and anal fissures. Pain relief during some semiological and instrumental maneuvers, eg proctoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, cystoscopy, endotracheal intubation. Stomatology: Superficial anesthesia of the gums before injection, deep cleaning of tartar and application of dental prostheses.

Active substances: 50mg/g lidocaine.

Lidocaine stabilizes the neuronal membrane, preventing the generation and transmission of nerve impulses, hence its local anesthetic action.

Dosage and method of administration:

The ointment should be applied in a thin layer for adequate symptom control. For endotracheal intubation apply directly to the tube. In stomatology apply on previously dry oral mucosa. Leave it on for at least 3 to 5 minutes for it to take effect. On the painful nipple apply a small gauze; the ointment must be removed before the next breastfeeding. No more than 20 g of ointment should be applied within 24 hours.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients.

If in doubt or if symptoms persist, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
